Hopelessly Hoping
In my time being involved in extracurriculars, curriculars, and just the community itself, I have found that often times people feel that they are hopeless in their efforts and desires. Across seas, mothers whose children are dying from preventable conditions must feel the same way — at least I would imagine. They hear of success of other countries or are kept in the dark, their minds hoping for a change that they may not know is on the way. Especially as I have gotten older, I have realized the importance of bringing change to something that you do not enjoy and being the change you wish to see rather than diffusing your responsibility to the greater population.
Admittedly, I have what even I might call a “hero” complex; I want more than almost anything to save those who need saving — not just for recognition but for those who are the victims and need help. Now, on campus, I am still waiting for an email to create a meeting-date with the man who could make or break the possibility of having a ONE club and am slightly antsy. Thankfully, I am already an officer for two other clubs and am beginning to familiarize myself with protocals on campus. At lunch the other day, I spent time with my two friends — one of which will hopefully become my VP — signing our other friend up and discussing what possible budget we could expect from the school and how we would obtain that budget. I also made her aware that I had found the ONE store, so that we can purchase some ONE “gear” for our group photo if we are able to do one on campus. The activities office does appear interested in the club, so I am hoping that all goes well.
In the meantime, I found this quote very fitting:
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.
– Mother Teresa
